Course description

The course Dynamics of Nontechnical Systems provides mathematical and system-theoretic methods for the analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems in cybernetics with a focus on nontechnical systems. In particular, the following topics are covered:

  • Basic facts about nonlinear ODEs, vector fields, flows
  • Lie brackets and nonlinear controllability analysis
  • Bifurcation analysis
  • Manifolds
  • Vector fields on manifolds
  • Center manifold theory
  • Oscillations and periodic orbits

    The course is given in English
    Prerequisites: RT1 or SGRT required, ERT, RT2 recommended.

    Exam

    For the exam, all written materials (lecture notes, exercises, books,...) are allowed.
    All electronic devices (calculators, mobile phones,...) are not allowed.
