Stochastic Simulation in Systems Biology
SimTech-Seminar

The seminar Stochastic Simulation in Systems Biology is part of the Graduate School program in the Cluster of Excellence Simulation Technology. It is open to everybody. We would especially like to invite PhD students to participate in and contribute to the seminar.

The goal of the seminar is to get an overview of stochastic modelling approaches in systems biology, algorithms to deal with stochastic models, and applications of stochastic modeling.

Content of the seminar

The following topics are in the scope of the seminar:
  • Chemical and biochemical kinetics in a stochastic framework,
  • Stochastic simulation in biomechanics,
  • Markov process descriptions of biological systems,
  • Numerical methods to simulate stochastic models,
  • Applications and case studies.
It is planned that every participant presents a research paper that falls within the scope of the seminar. A list of suggested papers is available here. It is also possible to present a paper not on the list, or present own research, if it is within the scope of the seminar. If you plan to do so, please have a suggestion ready for the first meeting.

Organisational information

The seminar will consist of 6-7 sessions, including a short first organisational meeting. Sessions will take place every second week.

Time Wednesday 14:00-15:30
Place Pfaffenwaldring 7a, room 0.04
The current presentation schedule is available here.

The first meeting will be on Thursday, November 6, 2008. The seminar will be held in English.
