Einladung zum Vortrag im Kolloquium Technische Kybernetik

Small Boat Physics, a Comparative Study of Transfer Functions

Henry Potrykus, Ph.D.
Institute for Defense Analyses

    Zeit: Montag · 25. 8. 2003 · 14:00 Uhr
    Ort: Raum 2.236 · Pfaffenwaldring 9 · Campus Stuttgart-Vaihingen

Abstract

We compare the hydrodynamic (wave) response of three distinct hull forms (the methodologies being generalizeable to many other, hybrid types); hard-chine planing hulls, hydrofoils, and air-cushioned vehicles shall all be modelled. The physics driving each of these hulls' responses is different and interesting in its own right, as the analysis will show, but the results are consonant. Parts of the work is still in progress; interesting optimization problems related to the above analysis will be posed and discussed.

Biographical Information

Henry Potrykus recently received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. While working on that degree, he spent one year at the IST, Stuttgart. He now works at the Institute for Defense Analyses, and has an interest in dynamical systems, (electronic systems) signal processing, and control theory.
