Selected awards obtained by IST members

 

2017

The Kyb Alumni prize will be awarded to Johannes Köhler for his excellent Master Thesis in October 2017.

The IFAC Journal of Process Control Paper Prize Award 2014-2016, a prize which is only awarded each three years, goes to Prof. Allgöwer, Martin Löhning, Marcus Reble, Jan Hasenauer and Shuyou Yu. They received the award at the 20th IFAC World Congress in Toulouse. The paper title is as follows: "Löhning M., M. Reble. J. Hasenauer, S. Yu and F. Allgower (2014). Model predictive control using reduced order models: Guaranteed stability for constrained linear systems. Journal of Process Control, 24, pp. 1647-1659."
Dr. Shen Zeng belongs to the six finalists of the Young Author Prize at the 20th IFAC World Congress in Toulouse for his paper "Periodic Signal Compressors".
2016
Dr. Victoria Grushkovskaya receives the Honorary Medal for Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
In September 2016, the Kyb Alumni prize has been awarded to Sven Knüfer for his Master Thesis.
Dr.-Ing. Hans-Bernd Dürr receives the "Preis der Freunde der Universität Stuttgart für besondere wissenschaftliche Leistungen".
2015
The 2015 European PhD Award on Control for Complex and Heterogeneous Systems of the European Embedded Control Institute (EECI) has been awarded to Dr.-Ing. Matthias Müller.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Allgöwer receives the IEEE CSS Distinguished Member Award 2015.
Matthias Müller receives the Postdoctoral Fellowship for Leading Early Career Researchers of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.
The Kyb Alumni prize has been awarded to Steffen Linsenmayer for his Master Thesis in September 2015.
In July 2015, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Dr. Magnus Egerstedt.
Matthias Müller receives the prize for the best talk at the "49. Regelungstechnischen Kolloquium Boppard".
2014
Mathias Buerger received the 2014 European PhD Award on Control for Complex and Heterogeneous Systems.
The ACC Best Presentation in Session Award has been awarded to Gregor Goebel and Matthias Mueller in 2014.
The MTZ-Award for Medical Systems Biology 2014 has been awarded to Jan Hasenauer for his outstanding dissertation.
The Artur-Fischer-Preis has been awarded to Shen Zeng in July 2014 by the faculties 4 and 7 of the University of Stuttgart.
In July 2014, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Dr. Lino Guzzella.
2013
The Kyb Alumni prize has been awarded to Shen Zeng for his Master Thesis in October 2013.
Georg Seyboth has been distinguished as Outstanding Reviewer of the journal IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems in 2013.
DeGruyter Publishing awarded Rainer Blind and Frank Allgöwer with the Best Paper Award for “On the Optimization of the Transport Layer for Networked Control Systems” in 2013.
In June 2013, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Graham C. Goodwin.
Mathias Bürger has been distinguished as Outstanding Reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.
2012/13
Best Graduation of the Year awarded to Maximilian Montenbruck by Universität Duisburg.
Best Graduation of the Year awarded to Florian Brunner by Universität Stuttgart.

BioModels awarded Schliemann et al. als Model of the Year in 2012.
Best SimTech PhD Student Publication 2012 with International Collaboration awarded to Mathias Bürger.
Best Student Paper awarded to Daniella Schittler for her paper "A model for proliferating cell populations that accounts for cell types" at the Conference Workshop for Computational Systems Biology (WCSB 2012).
2011
Best SimTech PhD Student Publication 2011 with International Collaboration has been awarded to Marcus Reble for his paper "Model predictive control of constrained nonlinear time-delay systems" at the SimTech Seminar that takes place December 5-7, 2012, in Bad Boll.
IEEE Student Travel Award has been awarded to Benjamin Briegel for his paper "On the Zeros of Consensus Networks" at the 50th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) and European Control Conference (ECC) that takes place December 12-15, 2011, in Orlando, FL, USA.
SICE 2011 International Best Paper Award has been awarded to Kenji Kashima for his paper "Connection Profile Robustness of Heterogeneous Network of Piecewise Affine FitzHugh-Nagumo Model" by Kenji Kashima, Antonis Papachristodoulou and Frank Allgöwer.
Best Student Paper Award for the contribution entitled "Visualization methods and support vector machines as tools for determining markers in models of heterogeneous populations: Proapoptotic signaling as a case study", at the Workshop for Computational Systems Biology (WCSB 2011), has been awarded to Dipl.-Ing Jan Hasenauer.
In November 2011, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Lennart Ljung.
The Outstanding Service Award wird Mitgliedern der IFAC verliehen, die einen wesentlichen Beitrag zu verschiedenen Inhalten für den IFAC geleistet haben. Das Kollegium zeichnete 2011 Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Allgöwer mit diesem Preis aus.
Georg Seyboth has been awarded the Artur Fischer Prize in 2011 for excellent graduation. (The Artur Fischer Prize is awarded once a year to the three best graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Stuttgart).
2010
IVS-Award 2010 has been awarded to Benjamin Briegel for his Study thesis at IST: "Input-Output Properties of Consensus Networks".
"ACC Best Presentation in Session Award" has been awarded to Simone Schuler in 2010.
The 2010 EECI PhD award, recompensing the best PhD works in Europe in the field of Embedded and Networked Control, has been awarded to Dr. Ulrich Münz.
The Kyb Alumni prize has been awarded to Jingbo Wu and Georg Seyboth in September 2010 for excellent thesis.
In July 2010, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Bruce A. Francis.
The Dissertationspreis der Freundesvereinigung has been awarded to Dr. Steffen Waldherr in June 2010.

The Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik presented to Steffen Waldherr in November 2008 for obtaining extra qualification in Academic Instruction.
The Kyb Alumni prize awarded to Simone Schuler, Gerd Simon Schmidt, Steffen Waldherr and Peter Wieland, in November 2008 for outstanding commitment in connection with the introduction of the new BSc study course.
The Kyb Alumni prize awarded to Jan Hasenauer for his Diploma Thesis in October 2008.
Best Paper Award of the IFAC journal Control Engineering Practice presented to the article on "Evaluation study of an efficient output feedback nonlinear model predictive control for temperature tracking in an industrial batch reactor" in July 2008 (article).
A paper by Steffen Waldherr, Rolf Findeisen, and Frank Allgöwer qualified as finalist among 380 posters for IFAC World Congress Poster Paper Prize in July 2008. Poster title: "Global Senstivity Analysis of Biochemical Reaction networks Via Semidefinite Programming" (paper).
The MTZ-Award for Medical Systems Biology 2008 awarded to Thomas Eißing for his outstanding dissertation.
The Alfred-Kärcher Preis 2008 für besondere Studienleistungen awarded to Marcus Reble.
Matthias Müller was awarded the IVS award for study thesis "Analysis of dynamical behaviour in singularly perturbed Lure systems".
In January 2008, the Peter Sagirow Distinguished Seminar Series has been delivered by Prof. Dr. Alberto Isidori.

The prize of the Vereinigung von Freunden der Universität Stuttgart awarded to Dr.-Ing. Christian Ebenbauer for his doctoral thesis in 2006.
