Abstract

The problem of exact boundary controllability of semi-linear one-dimensional heat equations is investigated. It is proven that it is possible to move from any steady state to any other one by means of a boundary control, provided that they are in the same connected component of the set of steady states. The proof is based on an effective feedback stabilization procedure which is implemented.

Biographical Information

E. Trélat, born in 1974, was student at the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Cachan (France) and completed his Ph.D. in 2000 at the University of Dijon. Since 2001, he is Maître de Conférences in the University Paris XI (Orsay). His main research interests are in the field of optimal control theory, nonlinear systems with application in aeronautics and celestial mechanics, control of partial differential equations, and numerical analysis of controlled PDE's.
