SUMMARY:Vortrag von Prof. Patrizio Colaneri
DESCRIPTION:Prof. Patrizio Colaneri\nDepartment of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering\nPolitecnico di Milano\nMilan, Italy \nTuesday 2018-05-08 16:00\n IST-Seminar-Room 2.255 - Pfaffenwaldring 9 - Campus Stuttgart-Vaihingen \nAbstract\nIn the talk the basic results on stability, stabilization and optimal control of positive\nswitched linear systems are briefly overviewed. It is shown that under some assumptions one can\nexploit the convexity of the cost function, thus paving the way to easy numerical solutions. A\nfundamental technical tool is also played by the so-called by the so-called co-positive\nLyapunov-Metzler inequalities, generating an “arg-min” switching rule capable to stabilize the\nsystem and provide an upper bound on the optimal cost. Moreover, the classical AIMD (additive\nincreasing multiplicative decreasing) algorithm is presented and its effectiveness in distributed\nscheduling problems is shown. Finally, three application-oriented problems are briefly illustrated,\nnamely (i) Theraphy scheduling for HIV load mitigation, (ii) Traffic light scheduling in road\njunctions, (iii) AIMD based distributed car battery charging in public parking. \n \n \n \n \nBiographical Information \nPatrizio Colaneri received the Laurea degree in Electrical Engineering in 1981 and the Ph.D.\ndegree (Dottorato di Ricerca) in Automatic Control in 1988. He is full professor of Automatica and\nserved as head of the Ph.D. school on ICT (2007–2009). He held visiting positions at the University\nof Maryland, at the Hamilton Institute of the National University of Ireland, and at the Institute\nfor Design and Control of Mechatronical Systems of Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria). He\nserved IFAC and IEEE CSS in many capacities in journals and conferences. He is currently Senior\nEditor of the IFAC journal “Non Linear Analysis: Hybrid Systems”, and a member of the IFAC\nTechnical Board. He is a Fellow of IFAC and IEEE. His main interests are in the area of periodic\nsystems and control, robust filtering and control, and switching control. He authored/ co-authored\nabout 250 papers and seven books.
