DESCRIPTION:\nTitle: Sub-optimal extremum seeking\n\nAbstract:\n Being able to keep margins with respect to the optimum of a performance index is a\nrequirement that may arise in several applications. Such a reserve can be used as a knob for\ncounteracting any changes in the operating conditions of the system. In most of the situations, the\nsystem dynamics as well as the analytical expression of the cost function are only partially known\nfrom the designer. Extremum seeking control is able to steer such systems for optimizing the cost\nfunction output. Starting from classical results, we present in this talk a modified version of the\nextremum seeking control that is able to not reach the cost function maximum but to keep a desired\nmargin with respect to its estimated maximum.\n\nBiographical Information:\n Christophe Labar received his master degree in electro-mechanical engineering from\nthe Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium, in 2015. He started then a PhD in the department\nof Control Engineering and System Analysis, at ULB. In 2016, he received the Solvay Awards (Solvay\nInstitute) for his master thesis. His research interests include extremum seeking control, singular\nperturbation and averaging, wind farms and bio-medical robotics.
