Titel: Sub-optimal extremum seeking
Abstract:
Being able to keep margins with respect to the optimum of a performance index is a
requirement that may arise in several applications. Such a reserve can be used as a knob for
counteracting any changes in the operating conditions of the system. In most of the situations, the
system dynamics as well as the analytical expression of the cost function are only partially known
from the designer. Extremum seeking control is able to steer such systems for optimizing the cost
function output. Starting from classical results, we present in this talk a modified version of the
extremum seeking control that is able to not reach the cost function maximum but to keep a desired
margin with respect to its estimated maximum.
