Abstract
Properties of and control strategies for linear systems with state and input constraints have been studied for more than three decades. Nevertheless, the talk presents some new insights in this field of research that is often considered to be closed. In particular, I discuss novel results on lambda-contractive sets, constrained linear-quadratic regulation, guaranteed constraint satisfaction for sampled continuous-time systems, and robust positively invariant sets for autonomous systems with scaled disturbances. In addition, I point out some interesting links between the four topics.
Biographical Information
Moritz Schulze Darup obtained a Master degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor in Physics from the Ruhr-University Bochum in 2008 and 2010, respectively. He then joined the Automatic Control and Systems Theory group at the same university, where he finished his doctoral studies on stabilizability of constrained nonlinear systems in 2014. Afterwards, he spent 18 months at the University of Oxford as a postdoctoral researcher funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Recently, a return grant brought him back to his alma mater, the Ruhr-University. His research interests include optimal and constrained control, robust control, global optimization, and scientific computing.
