Dr.-Ing. Johannes Köhler, former IST member, has been awarded the 2021 European Systems & Control PhD Thesis Award for his dissertation "Analysis and design of MPC frameworks for dynamic operation of nonlinear constrained systems", written under the supervision of Prof. Frank Allgöwer at the Institute for Systems Theory and Automatic Control. The award has been conferred at the annual European Control Conference 2022 that took place in London.
The EECI PhD Thesis Award is granted annually in recognition of the best PhD thesis in Europe in the field of Systems & Control. It is the fourth time that the award goes to one of the former PhD students supervised by Prof. Frank Allgöwer. It makes the University of Stuttgart the only research institution in Europe that has received this award more than twice.
